# Introduction — Africa's Prediction Market on Base

> BlockForecast is Africa's prediction market on Base L2. Trade real-world outcomes in USDC, create your own markets and earn 0.5% per trade, resolved automatically by an AI oracle.

BlockForecast is Africa's prediction market — a crypto-native platform on Base L2 that's globally available. You trade on the outcome of real-world events — crypto prices, sports results, elections, tech news — using USDC as the settlement currency. Approved creators can list markets on any topic and earn 0.5% on every trade those markets generate. Resolution runs through a multi-agent AI oracle that reads authoritative sources, votes with confidence scores, and reaches consensus automatically.

## Built for Africa

The platform is positioned for African crypto users first, while remaining globally available subject to the [Terms of Service](/legal/terms). Three things make that practical:

* **CEX rails that work.** Fund your account by withdrawing USDC on Base from any major exchange — Binance, Bybit, OKX, Crypto.com, KuCoin. Users in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya can follow [dedicated deposit guides](/how-to-deposit) for the exchanges most commonly used in each market.
* **Base L2 economics.** Transaction fees on Base are fractions of a cent, which makes the small-ticket trading that dominates African retail crypto activity economically viable. Settlement is in native USDC on Base.
* **Sport coverage you'd actually trade.** Markets cover CAF and African football (AFCON, the Nigerian Premier League, the South African PSL) alongside the European leagues most followed across the continent.

## How BlockForecast works

Every market on BlockForecast is a binary (YES/NO) or multi-outcome contract. You buy shares in the outcome you believe is correct. The share price — a number between \$0 and \$1 — reflects the market's collective probability estimate at any moment. If you buy 100 YES shares at \$0.60 and the event resolves YES, each share pays \$1: your \$60 turns into \$100.

Markets resolve through BlockForecast's **multi-agent AI oracle**. Multiple independent AI agents read designated authoritative sources, vote on the outcome with confidence scores, and settle the market automatically — typically within minutes of resolution criteria being met. You can watch live agent voting on the [Oracle Dashboard](https://blockforecast.io/oracle).

Trading is denominated in **USDC on Base L2**. Base is Coinbase's Layer 2 network: transactions confirm in seconds and cost fractions of a cent. You fund your account via the in-app bridge (accepts any crypto on any chain) or by withdrawing USDC directly from a CEX.

## How BlockForecast compares to Polymarket and Kalshi

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Market creation">
    Polymarket and Kalshi restrict market creation to their internal teams. On BlockForecast, any approved user can create markets. Submit an application — it's reviewed within 24 hours — and you gain access to the market creation interface.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Resolution">
    Polymarket uses a human-driven UMA optimistic oracle with a dispute window. Kalshi relies on an internal team under CFTC oversight. BlockForecast uses a multi-agent AI consensus system that resolves markets automatically without a manual adjudication step.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Creator earnings">
    BlockForecast pays market creators **0.5% of every trade** in real time. Polymarket and Kalshi have no equivalent creator fee structure — those platforms keep all trading fees.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Settlement">
    All three platforms use stablecoins for settlement. BlockForecast settles in USDC on Base L2, which means near-instant confirmations and near-zero gas costs.
